Our Pastor: J. David Knecht DMin
My name is Pastor Dave Knecht. I have been serving as Lead Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church since May 2008. Prior to coming to Holy Cross, I had served in several parishes in North Jersey since 1996. I was also given the opportunity to serve as a missionary and Pastor in Taiwan. It was in Taiwan where I met my lovely wife Yu-Mei. God has blessed with children, a son starting high school and a daughter in college. I am fluent in German and speak conversational Mandarin. In my spare time I enjoy both running and cycling.
I hold a Doctor of Ministry and a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia; I earned a BA in Economics from Lenoir-Rhyne University. Before entering ministry, I spent several years working in the graphic arts industry.
The biggest joy in ministry is seeing how the Holy Spirit works through the lives of Christians. When people are inspired to use the gifts that their heavenly Father has given them for helping others it glorifies the God who sent His only Son.
